Governors Role
The Governor’s role is to help our school provide the best possible education for each and everyone of its pupils.
Together with the Headteacher and the school leadership team we lead our school, setting the vision and establishing the right culture to drive forward improvement, to ensure the best chances are secured for every child.
We meet as a Full Governing Body about six times during each academic year. As we are a corporate body this is where decisions are made. However, most of the work of the Governing Body is done in the Sub Committees:
- Curriculum
- Finance
- Pay
- Personnel
- Premises
Governors with a particular interest or expertise in an area meet regularly and then report back to the other Governors.
We also have Complaints, Pupil Discipline, Staff Discipline and Appeals Committees that meet when necessary.
Individual Governors take special responsibility for Special Needs, Health and Safety and we have an Area Community Governor and a Nursery Standards representative. We have a Link Governor who links with our Local Education Authority Governors Services.
We are supported in our role by our Clerk, who is a valuable member of our team.
We also receive support and training from our Local Education Governor Support Services.
Governors are volunteers who give their time freely for the benefit of the school. Their shared knowledge and expertise strengthen the leadership and management of the school for all the pupils and staff.
School Profile
Our School Profile has been completed and is available on line at the DfES Parentcentre website, (www.parentcentre.gov.uk). Hard copies can be obtained on request from the school office. It reports on the 2004/05 academic year as it contains the most up to date validated data. We will endeavour to publish the 2005/06 profile as soon as the data is available sometime in the next academic year.
